- Superintendent, Dr. Yvonne Munoz’s report to the Board included mention of the Spring 2026 CISD Newsletter that was distributed around the CISD community. Dr. Munoz informed the Board of the invite from TASB to present the Board’s “Unrest to Unity” presentation at Dripping Springs and Uvalde this fall. Dr. Munoz put together two Bond committees: the CES Bond Furniture Committee, which meets 8/17/26 and the Bond Oversite Committee, which meets 8/13/26. Dr. Munoz informed the School Board that the CISD Accountability Ratings will come out this Wednesday, Aug. 12th.
- Director of Academic Services, Dr. Boothe, informed the Board that CISD had a small testing cohort in June with 42 EOC tests administered. Overall passing rate was 57%. The new school year includes a Kinder Dual Language program and a new ELAR K-5 program called Savvas. Dr. Boothe informed the Board that new CISD teachers attended New Teacher Orientation on July 29, 2026, which included an opportunity to meet with their teacher mentors over lunch.
- Director of Health/Safety/Communications, Emily Steffek, provided an update on the Youth Mental Health First Aid staff PD summer and upcoming spring sessions. Mrs. Steffek indicated that subs and new teachers have been trained on Standard Response Protocols for emergency and drill response. Mrs. Steffek summarized the status of the 2023-2026 three year School Safety Audit as required by TxSSC. The District Vulnerability Assessment (DVA) will be this winter, and the Intruder Detection Audit is an annual requirement by TEA. Mrs. Steffek reviewed SPAT compliance and the district’s purchase of Raptor emergency management and wearables for safety compliance.
- Comfort Elementary Principal, Mr. Michael Skinner, presented to the board on their participation in the Safety and Security Audit. Mr. Skinner addressed campus goals, which include using Second Step curriculum and resources, implementing Positive Character Traits and Personal Skills. CES provides additional whole and/or small group SEL Guidance Curriculum.
- Suzzette Murie gave a Food Service Report on Opaa to include the support of campus open house celebrations. With the new partnership, school begins with a menu audit for the first 21 days of school. Ms. Murie stated the goal of the first month is to ensure Texas Department of Agriculture compliance.
- Athletic Director, Jay Rieken, provided an overview of important dates with August Football, Volleyball, and Cross Country. Coach Rieken reviewed the focus on finalizing all UIL eligibility paperwork and physicals, continuing safety protocol implementation, which includes heat acclimatization and wet-bulb monitoring. Coaches are working to prepare all athletic facilities and game-day operations for the fall season.

- Technology Director, Jennifer DiGiacinto informed the Board that technology finished updating and preparing laptops for all campuses and ipads for elementary. The team completed new teacher’s laptops, accounts, and badges. New interactive TVs were installed at high school. Technology prepped various software programs the district uses for the start of the school year; updated all Wifi infrastructure, phones, and cameras with latest software; and maintenance was performed on servers.
- McLemore reported an overview of elementary, middle, and high school cleaning schedules.
- CISD Operations’ report from Director of Operations, Trent Wilson gave an overview on grounds and facilities such as rebuilding the old chimney, replacing the roof at CMS, etc. Mr. Wilson stated the three-year asbestos audit is upcoming. He reported on transportation warranty and work to include a highlight on the enrollment of 349 students into the transportation system.

- The School Board approved the recommendation to adopt an order authorizing the issuance of Comfort ISD Unlimited Tax School Building Bonds, Series 2026 as presented.
- The School Board approved the recommendation to approve Hellas Construction for the Sports Fields New Turf Projects as presented.
- The School Board approved the recommendation to approve the Contract with Kendall and Kerr County's Elections Administrators as presented.
- The School Board approved the recommendation that the Board decide to endorse Ms. Friesenhahn for the TASB Region 20 Board of Directors position as presented.
- The School Board approved the recommendation to approve the Resolution for Continued Tax Exemption for Sisterdale Schoolhouse as presented.
